In this video, I did try to show how you can easily check the distance between the elements of any category.
For all elements that are devices (not installations like ducts, pipes, conduits or cable trays) we can retrieve the point as the device location and from here our script is able to highlight all devices that have the distance below what the user defined.
The script will work even if elements do not have the same height because we can define in which height range we want to check element “collision”.
Please make sure that before you start using this script that you back up your existing project model.
Also, if you want to download this (and all other scripts) with my sample files please visit the Shop page.
The script uses the following Dynamo packages: GeniusLoci | v.2021.11.10
Hello, wanna ask if it can be used in revit 2022 with 2022 dynamo or even old version. And can the sprinkler checking distance list can be applied to all sprinkler type
Hello Ivan, sorry for the late reply. If you install the required packages for this script, I don’t see why the script would not work in Revit 2022. The script should work for any sprinkler type.
Hello
Would it be possible to modify this script so that it checks the distance between two different categories? Like if Air Terminals is too close to a specific Signage family and color the Air Terminals that are too close or would that require a whole new script?
Thank you in advance
Hello,
I believe it is possible to modify the script to check distances between two different categories. Just be careful with how you handle the Z component. What appears close in the floor plan may not necessarily be so in the section/3D view.
Best regards,
Nenad
